Picnic Spring 2008

All Xavier Mathematics and Computer Science students, faculty, staff , friends, alumni, and families are welcome to attend. This year's picnic is at Sharon Woods Park, on Thursday, May 8, from 1:00 pm until dark. If you need a ride, email Liz at johnsone@xavier.edu.

Volleyball, bocce, frisbee, eating, etc. will start at 1 and continue throughout the afternoon and early evening. There is also usually a softball game at some point.

Directions from Xavier University Drive

  1. Get to North 75. Here's one way: 
       - Turn right onto Victory Parkway from University Drive.
   - After 1 mile, turn right on Reading Road
   - After .7 miles, on left, get onto Norwood Lateral (562) 
      going West towards 75. 
   - After .8 miles, get onto I-75 North going towards Dayton.
  2. After approx. 9 miles, take exit 16, I-275. Get on I-275 East, going towards Columbus/I-71.

  3. After 2 miles, take exit 46, Mason/Sharonville. Turn right onto Lebanon Rd.

  4. Within 1 mile, you'll cross Kemper Road. There's a Truck Rental/Box company on the right at that intersection. Shortly, a split-rail fence begins on the left. There's a road in the middle of that fence, marked by stone posts which say "Sharon Woods." Turn left here.

    If you get to Reading Road before turning left, you've gone too far.

  5. Almost immediately you'll come to the guard kiosk. If the guard is there, you'll need to buy a pass for the park here ($2 for the day or $5 for the year per car).

  6. Continue straight from the kiosk. You'll cross a creek.

  7. After less than .3 miles, you'll see a road on the right for the reservable shelters. Turn right.

  8. Continue on the road until it ends. We are the last shelter -- Fern Hollow. Parking is on the right and the shelter is on the left.
