Some Atari 8-bit Stuff
I no longer have time to maintain this page, so
it will be disappearing sometime during or after June, 1998.
Grab all you want. Please feel free to re-post this stuff, as long as
it does not appear that I still maintain it.
I have received many messages with updates to this page. I have not yet
had a chance to integrate the information into the page (and probably
never will), but I have put them in an errata page.
We've been mentioned in USA Today! A Commodore guy typed the article
in, so go read it!
- The Atari 8-bit
Reference Cards I put together
- Adding a Parallel Bus Interface to a 1200XL
- Peter Bell's <peter@bell.demon.co.uk>
dual PIA modification for the Atari 800
(11k ZIP file)
- Connecting a 1200XL keyboard to any Atari 8-bit (now completely in HTML!)
- Connecting an Atari joystick to a PC game port
(Both schematics are now much more readable than before!)
- How about an
Atari 800/800XL emulator
for Unix or Amiga systems!
- Wow! André Fachat has a
preemptive-multitasking 6502 system!
- Read about
The birth of
the Atari 400/800 and Optimized Systems Software
- Here are the comp.sys.atari.8bit
FAQs,
but our CIS network is unreliable enough that you might want to try
the
FAQ or
the
vendors/developers list
in the Netherlands
- Now there's another multi-platform Atari emulator,
XL-It!
- Frank Barrus's
ACE
is another emulator for Unix
- You say you've got a Mac? Try Chris Lam's
Rainbow
emulator
- Wanna see a bunch of
screenshots
from Atari cartridges?
- The major storehouse for software is the
Atari 8-bit Area on the
Umich Software Archive
(it may be better to use the
gopher
version of the
Atari 8-bit Archive)
- There are lots of Atari games at
ftp3.cyberspy.com.
- James King's
Atari Connection II
archive had a lot of fun stuff that can't be found anywhere else.
Only problem is that he had to take everything out because it was
costing too much. I have seen some odds and ends remaining there,
though.
You may want to
email him about the CD-ROM he
put together. You can also call his BBS at (801)969-1468.
- The
clark.net archive has
Antic and ANALOG magazine archives, as well as other Atari stuff.
- Get Steve Tucker's
APE, and read the
APE User's Guide.
- Tom Hunt has a
Closer to Home (CTH)
web page
- The Queensland Atari Computer Enthusiasts User Group
has a
web page
and a couple of Atari-related FTP directories:
(Thanks to Dave Blears for clearing up my confusion on the two
different "Closer To Home" names!)
- You might be able to get the comp.sys.atari.8bit newsgroup
locally. If not, try
Deja News.
- The
Atari Computer Enthusiasts of Columbus (ACEC) are on the net!
- Ivo van Poorten's
Atari 8-Bit Home Page has a lot of useful stuff, especially his lists of
documents and
pinouts
- Tomasz Tatar's
Big Atari 8bit Home Page
- The
BRiTiSH
Underground Atari 8-bit page
- Bill Kendrick's
New Breed Software
page
- Marek Tomczyk's
Atari 8-bit Resort
- Darek Mihocka's
Branch Always Software
page (find the PC-Xformer Atari emulator here)
- Mariano Dominguez Molina lurks in the
8
Bits Cave, also known as
La
cueva de los 8 bits
- Bravo
Sierra Computers sells Atari-related hardware, software, and books
- Peter Garriga has an
Atari Page
- John Goodman has Atari game graphics on
his page
- Douglas Beattie has a 6502 macro cross-assembler for MS-DOS in his
x65tools
directory.
