Text: This course will use the text Calculus
Concepts, An Informal Approach to the Mathematics of Change by
LaTorre, Kennelly, et al, 2nd Edition - we will cover material from chapters
1 - 6.
Assignments: There will be homework assigned
for each section of the book. This homework will be collected three times
without notice and graded for 10 points each. Group work will result in
completion of three quizes collected without notice and graded for 10
points each. There will be an art project worth 10 points. The remaining
350 points will come from six tests of 50 points each and a 50 point cummulative
final.
Grades: Grades will be assigned on a
sliding scale based on point totals at the end of the semester. No letter
grades will be assigned until the end of the semester.
Goal: The goal of this course is to emerge
with a mastery of the basics of integral and differential calculus and
how they are used in various application situations.
